CCBR Rules & Guidlines

·        Electronic timer or stopwatches will be used to time each contestant’s run.  In the event of a “tie”, teams will “run off” for placement.

·        Any riding discipline may use their tack, i.e. English saddle/bridle, Australian, etc.

·        No rider may be secured, tied or strapped in any fashion to saddle or horse.

·        ‘NOVICE RIDER’ refers to the rider not having won any accumulated awards in Barrel Racing or Gaming events, such as High Point, Year End, High Honor, etc. (Excludes ‘Assisted Division’ year-end winner)

·        ‘NOVICE HORSE’ refers to a horse that has not previously earned any accumulated awards in Barrel Racing or Gaming events, such as High Point, Year-End, High Honor, etc.  (Excludes “Assisted division” Year-end winner)

·        “ASSISTED” Handler may cross over start/finish line and assist rider throughout pattern as needed.  Handler may touch horse or rider, but may NOT touch the equipment.  Only one person on the horse.

·        “UNASSISTED” May have help into the arena.  Handler/helper may NOT cross Start/Finish line.

·        Each Rider/Horse team can ride only once in a class.  No double entering.

·        Contestants must be members of Central Carolina Barrel Racers to qualify for Year-End Awards. Membership applications are located on line and at the show.  $20.00 a year per horse/rider/division.  $10.00 each for same riders additional team (Horse or division)

·        Points start to accumulate towards Year-End Awards when Rider pays for CCBR membership.  Points from shows prior to membership DO NOT APPLY.

·        Rider/Horse team may cross enter divisions. I.e. Novice Horse & OPEN or Teen & Novice Rider, as long as they qualify for that division.

·        Rider may qualify for only one Year-End Award in a division.  Regardless of number of horses ridden in that division.

·        Rider may ride more than one horse in a division, but only the Rider/Horse team with the most points will be qualified for Year End Awards in that division.

·        At each show Rider/Horse teams will be placed according to the fastest time.  A Rider that rides more than one horse in a division will be placed according to fastest time. I.e. 2nd, 3rd, 5th.  The Rider can qualify for Divisional High Point that day on any of the horses entered in a division.

·        A Rider/Horse team may qualify for Year-End Awards in different divisions.

·        NEW SHOW CHAMPION HIGH POINT TROPHY is awarded to the RIDER with the most accumulated points in one show each month on any number of horses, in any divisions (that they qualify for).  Winning Show Champion High Point trophy does not affect divisional point standings in any way.

·        If a Riders horse has become sick or injured, and cannot participate in the shows (as per vet letter) and pulled for the remainder of the year, points will remain intact and continue on replacement horse within the same division.  If replacement horse does not qualify for that division (i.e. Novice Horse) team starts with –0- points in new division.  Only one injury change permitted per Rider/Horse team, per year.

·        If a Riders horse is sold, the Rider/Horse team’s points are noted.  Rider’s new horse will start with –0- points as a new Rider/Horse team, regardless of number of shows remaining in the current year.  Original Rider/Horse team can still qualify for Year-End Awards even if horse is no longer owned by Rider.

·        When a rider reaches Year-End Award ‘Champion’ in a Novice Rider division, the rider may not ride in Novice Rider division the following year.

·        All rules listed in program apply to CCBR contestants and spectators as well.
